The platform is free. The data is not.
KVERX has no subscription, no ads and no paid tier “for serious users”. The account, the kverks, the whole academy and the KVERX Market are free for everyone — and they are meant to stay that way. Somebody, though, has to pay for it every month.
For now that is us, out of our own pockets. Voluntary contributions are what keeps the laboratory open, and what decides whether it grows or gets trimmed. Whoever gives is not buying anything for themselves — they are sharing in what the laboratory grows into, and holding the door open for the next person to find out, for free, how an artificial intelligence actually learns.
And if you give nothing, nothing happens. You get exactly the same KVERX as someone sending ten euros a month. That is deliberate.
Where the money goes · per month
These are the three main bills that arrive every month, whatever else is going on.
Prices and volumes from licensed providers, plus news headlines. The largest line item and the one without which the KVERX Market would mirror nothing — data is charged per instrument and per month, including the days when nothing happens.
The database, the queues and the compute. Every kverk has to decide on every cycle and relearn after every batch of experience; ten thousand kverks means ten thousand brains that have to run somewhere.
Backups, the domain, outage monitoring and sending e-mail — sign-in codes, receipts, alerts. The smallest line item, and the one that cannot be trimmed: without e-mail nobody can sign in to KVERX at all.
What your contribution makes possible
None of this is a promise about the future — it is the list of things that happen in exactly the order there is money for them.
An open door
Every new account costs money every month without ever paying anything. Your contribution is the reason we do not have to close sign-ups or invent limits.
More market to look at
More instruments, deeper history, better news. A kverk learns from what it sees — and widening its field of view is the most expensive thing we can do for it.
An academy that teaches for free
The chapters, the glossary and the hint beside every number are written and maintained by someone. It is the quietest part of the product and the reason a lot of people stay.
Independence
No ads, no selling data, no investor who wants to see the numbers go up. Contributions are the only way KVERX can stay a laboratory instead of becoming a funnel.
A donor gets no advantage of any kind. Every user’s kverks run in the same laboratory.
No higher limits, no better kverks, no badge beside the name and no place in a queue. And there never will be — the moment a gift unlocked something it would stop being a gift and become a price. An account that has never paid anything has the same slots, the same market and the same fuses as a monthly supporter’s.
One thing always holds: we are grateful. We know every person who held the laboratory up while it was small — and though a gift unlocks nothing, our gratitude has no expiry date.
