Your first kverk
There is no point agonising over your first kverk. Its job is not to make money — its job is to teach you to read what happens in the laboratory. Both paths lead to an equally living animal; they differ only in how many questions they ask you.
Where to find it
In the stable at /app/kverks you press New kverk and land on /app/kverks/new. The first screen is a fork of two cards:
- Quick (~1 minute) — three decisions: Market · Profile · Name and portrait. The profile fills in the other 27 DNA elements.
- In detail (~10 minutes) — all 30 elements in six sections, always pre-filled from a profile. Never an empty form.
You can switch between them at any point and lose nothing — it is one draft, not two forms. Continue → opens the birth ceremony, which says out loud that the DNA is about to lock. Confirming it creates the kverk, and the training popup opens immediately with the Basic training highlighted.
Analogy: A first guitar is not chosen by its timber and pickups. It is chosen so that there is something to play on. The differences start to mean something once your fingers have calluses.
What to pick when you have no idea
- Market: the US. The most liquidity, the narrowest spreads, the most legible news. (The others are Europe, Asia, World and Crypto.)
- Profile: Balanced — the catalogue marks it as the recommended start. Conservative trades rarely and the first weeks are dull; Active crypto is crypto-only and the fastest route to confusion.
- Hypothesis: one sentence on why you expect this kverk to be interesting. Write it even if you feel silly doing it — three months later it is the only thing that tells you whether you were right. You can edit it any time in the Settings tab.
Every kverk starts with 10,000 in the accounting currency of its market. It is not your money and never will be; it is a yardstick.
The first few days
The Basic training walks the kverk through the last twelve months of every market, and you see its first exam straight away. The free entitlement is one per account, not one per kverk — it is used up the first time you spend it, after which the Basic training costs €39. An untrained kverk is not broken, though: it starts from the textbook reading of its indicators, it just learns more slowly.
Then it starts living. After three days without a trade it switches to the waiting state and nothing will happen for a while — and that is fine. The Score appears only after thirty closed days; until then a dash stands in its place, because earlier it would be a number with no content.
A common mistake: creating five kverks in the first hour. An account carries ten active ones at a time (paused, sleeping, burned and advisor kverks occupy no slot), so there is room — but there is only one free training, and reading five records at once teaches you nothing. Two kverks that differ in exactly one thing say more than eight that differ in everything: with the first two you can tell what made the difference.
A KVERX EXAMPLE
The quick path is not a lite version. A FERDA made in one minute and a FERDA made in ten both have thirty DNA elements, both lock at birth, and both build an equally honest record. The only difference is who filled in the other 27 numbers — you, or the profile.
